The Cybils are coming!
I have a very exciting announcement to make today. The judges for the 2012 Cybils Awards have been selected, and I am thrilled to have been chosen to join the judging panel for the Book App category. Thank you to the Cybils team and especially Book App Chair Mary Ann Scheuer.
The Cybils were launched in the USA in 2006. They are all about celebrating the work of children’s and Young Adult authors and illustrators, and bringing together bloggers who write about children’s and YA literature. In 2011 a Book App category was added for the first time.
Books and apps submitted for the awards must have been published in the USA within the past twelve months, although nominations can be submitted from anywhere in the world. Nominations will open on October 1 and close on October 15th, so get your thinking caps on for your top book app pick of the past year.
The 1st Round judges will then come up with a shortlist of finalists by 1 January 2013, and the 2nd Round judges (which is where I join in) will review these apps and chose the winner to be announced on 14 February 2013.
The 2011 winner in the Book App category was The Monster at the End of This Book by Callaway Digital Arts, Inc. I’m excited to see which apps will make the shortlist this year, and to help pick the 2012 winner! You can find out more about the awards process, the different categories, and this year’s judges at www.cybils.com I’ll also be posting updates on the blog.
Great to hear you’re joining the Cybils team – i was a judge (round 2) last year and it was fascinating and enjoyable – so much so I was keen to do it again this year. Will be great to have a cybils buddy this side of the Atlantic!
I was really pleased to see your name on the list Zoe. Lovely to have a Cybils buddy in the UK, especially one who knows the ropes!
Huge congrats Helen – this sounds very exciting! They chose well – you are something of a connoisseur I think…
Thank you Clara, that’s very kind!
Congratulations Helen! Well deserved.
Many thanks Gwen!
